I was just playing earlier... nothing has changed in my system. I went to eat, came back and the sever will not connect.
I uninstalled, reinstalled, shut off windows firewall.. shut off antivirus... none of these have been a problem but tried anyway... still get no connection to server.

Actually look back at the traceroutes and you will see that the problem definatly is with Telenor and anyone using thier router bank which is obviously borked.

Originally by: Dizzhar Woho! I bug reported this issue here on the site.
You must give the guys handling bug reports more love. I got the reply they don't handle support requests and to use (your going to love this) "the ingame petition system". So in short if you can't get ingame go ingame and report this. But ever so helpful the automatic message also referred me to two addresses on EVE-O that are just as dead as the account maintainance pages.
So I can't play, I can't report it in any way and, short of telling my credit card company to reject EVE charges, I can't even stop paying for this service.
Happy Happy!
Once again... Do a Tracert and you will see that the connection dies at Telenors router. Theres nothing CCP can do about this, short of them buying up Telenor and rebooting thier router. Since its Midsommar weekend, I can imagine that anyone capable of noticing the problem is hung over and free from work today as well.. We are not likely to see a resolution of this problem untill someone can physically CALL Telenors Customer support and talk to a tech that can reboot the router.
Now is a good time to catch up on all the other things in life you usually ignore due to eve I guess...

Just contacted Telenor Support, here is the answer:
There is no one there that can reboot the router till monday morning. We are welcome to ring: 0200878000 after 07:30 Monday morning and report it.
So now you know.
Unless someone who has access wants to set up a proxy server, we are eve-less for the rest of the weekend.

Well its not a server thats down... its a router... in fact This router: ti3001d320-ge2-1-0.ti.telenor.net - 148.122.8.105 Which is Svensby. Out in the bush, so theres definatly no hope of finding a tech at work till monday.
Thats all there is to this. As I said.. If someone in this thread has a friend with a fast connection willing to set up a proxy server, and share it, we can atleast connect thru that. If not its "game over." till monday.

This is because at some point the people in these other countries are routed thru telenor to get to iceland. I would think that would be obvious but then i assume people are smarter than they are usually. Do a Tracert and you will see where it stops...

Originally by: Dizzhar Now call me a skeptic but I strongly doubt reinstalling XP will have any effect what so ever on web based traceroute services. And it is tracerouts from various computers all over the world that fails to reach 87.237.38.200. Several of them not even running PC hardware nor MS OSes. But even the failure of my local traceroute program can't possibly be related to any errors in the EVE client.
Originally by: Marus Sulla Everything looking ok .... At the moment i'm tending towards a client problem. Either with the CCP client or a PC config problem. A re-install of XP should clear that.
Like I said before might be a mix of problems is confusing everyone?
Reinstalling Windows will help this problem about as much as changing the sparkplugs in your car will help you connect better to eve. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the problem.
Please stop the guessing and get "networking for blathering idiots" book or something. The Tracerts show you the problem.. end of friggin story.

Or... and this is just a silly idea... Listen to what everyone is saying and realise that its a router issue that wont be solved till the ISPs involved reboot thier routers on... wait for it................................................... MONDAY.

The tracert is the man with the bloody knife saying he did it.
So sorry for my aggression but its frustrating seeing everyone grasping at straws when the answer is right there.

The others from UK are having a similar issue... I assume... I can only speak for the ones on my ISP... We would need to compare the choke points of a few UK customers to see which is thier problem router... It is possible that more than one router has gone down in the internet at any given point... So the fact that ppl from UK are having problems and not telenor customers means nothing really.

I agree 100% that its multiple problems... One is for Scandinavian Telenor/Bredbandsbolaget(also Telenore)... and the other is related to you UK guys... Can very well be seperate types of issues and hence your Tracert... but you did a 30 hop Trace and posted only 7... Let the trace run out.. can take some time... And paste the entire trace please. Perhaps we can get closer to your UK problem... Since we know what out problem is here in Scandinavia.

NBT you are assuming these problems are related to each other. Thats an assumption you are making with no supporting evidence. And in my opinion, totally incorrect. The Telenor problem is not necessarily connected to the UK issue... tho it may in fact be the same TYPE of failure... I have no evidence to support that theory either. We can only examine multiple UK Traces and see...

Edited by: iPod LoSec on 23/06/2007 14:26:03 Marus... This may be redundant but your problem can be local, have you tried clearing your cache.. c:\Documents and settings\(your user)\Application Data\CCP\
Try that and reboot and restart eve... It MIGHT help... It doesnt seem like you are having real network issues according to the tracert anyway.
BTW See if you can search on the www.eve-online.com webpage... the search accesses a server that we Telenords also cant reach.... I am interested to know if you can.

"We have been looking into the recent connectivity issues troubling Tranquility recently, in both the code and the network. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to find anything that would cause this. When players are disconnected from Tranquility, we see the same pattern repeated on Singularity. Due to this, we believe the cause is an ISP outside of the connection between the CCP office in Iceland and the server site in London."

Have just spent last 30 minutes with drift technicians at BBB and they traced the server and found the problem does indeed have to do with 2 core routers at telenor... I am at work so I am not the actuall "customer" so what needs to happen is that someone (preferably everyone that is customer at BBB or Telenor) ring now and report the error... The support guy said that that will allow them to lay up and order for it to be fixed faster... The more people that report it the faster this will go...
And to answer the UDP TCP ICMP question... yes i am aware of that though my point was more of that "there are more than one type of connection and one type can get thru while another cant." but I appreciate the extreme technical word surgery... tho the information was really not necessary to make the point... Fact it I didnt even think about it with more than one of my brain cells : ) I was mostly aggrivated at his tone at the time.

Then he didnt really do it... He just gave you the "yea yea yea looks fine to me.." brushoff, cause we all know it doesnt look fine, and one of thier techs just told me also he knows that 2 core routers are down, but that telenor has to fix them, they dont have access.. the most we can do is put pressure on them.
When you call make sure you get a real drift tekniker and not some help-desk guy.

Yea I think its like that with all tech supports... some guys are busy playing WoW and just say what they think will get you off the phone fastest.
Would be good to ring down telenors support as well.. Tho we know they arent gonna do anything about it now at least it will get the issue prioritised monday morning.

Well like all other corporate mergers, it more or less is simply a matter of logo switching and profits going into different pockets. BBB is Telenor in logo only... The rest is still the same.
iPod LoSec - The guy who ate spoonfulls of dung for arguing that this was the problem 6 pages back, ...and that it wouldnt be solved till monday. <sigh>.
